Calgary BMX Code of Conduct
Calgary BMX is dedicated to providing riders in the greater-Calgary area with safe and inclusive access to recreational BMX riding and BMX racing at a local, provincial, and national level. To ensure this, all athletes, parents, volunteers, and spectators must adhere to Calgary BMX’s Code of Conduct, which is aligned with the principles and requirements of Cycling Alberta's Code of Conduct. When you agree to and sign Calgary BMX’s Code of Conduct, you are also agreeing to ABA’s Code of Conduct – be informed and read before you sign.

Key principles of the Cycling Alberta Code of Conduct include:
  • Be responsible for your actions and be accountable for the consequences of your actions or inactions.
  • Act, compete, participate, and spectate in a spirit of fair play and honesty as outlined in True Sport principles.
  • Treat all individuals with dignity and respect, including athletes, parents, volunteers, coaches, officials, and spectators.
  • Follow the regulations and rules set by Alberta BMX, Cycling Alberta, Cycling Canada, and UCI, including the spirit of the regulations and rules.
  • Refrain from any behaviour that constitutes harassment or bullying as defined by Cycling Alberta's Harassment Policy including in person and online.
  • Abstain from non-medical drug use and/or the use of performance enhancing drugs and methods.
  • Be aware of how power imbalance in relationships can create a coercive and negative environment.
  • Be respectful of the property of others, including individuals, clubs, sanctioning bodies, etc…, and don’t wilfully cause damage.
  • Promote BMX riding and racing in a positive and constructive manner including in-person and online.
  • Adhere to and respect Cycling Alberta’s Safe Sport Policy.

Remember that participation in BMX events, including but not limited to coaching,
district or provincial racing, or club events, whether as an athlete, spectator, or
volunteer, is a privilege and not a right.
