A reminder for all members to download, complete and return their VOLUNTEER AGREEMENT for the 2013 race season. Completed forms can be submitted, with your post-dated cheque, to the registration office at the track.

Participation in the Volunteer Program is mandatory for all members and if you do not return your forms, within a reasonable time frame, you will be prohibited from riding on the track until you do so. Please also remember to contact Candi as soon as possible to sign-up and help with our GET RAD at Calgary BMX Racing event happening on Sunday, May 26^th. This will be a fun way to get some of your volunteer hours in...and we'll need all the help we can get.

The Alberta Bicycle Association has proclaimed Sunday, May 26^th, 2013 as BMX Day in Alberta – a province-wide initiative to raise awareness of BMX Racing.

The event is designed to provide an opportunity for all Albertans to discover and experience the thrill of BMX Racing at the club of their choosing. Through this occasion, Calgary BMX is taking it to a whole new level and we are extremely please to announce Get Rad at Calgary BMX Racing... and RAD we will get!

Highlights include:

• FREE RIDE on the track!
• Carly from X92.9 broadcasting live on location.
• Prizes and giveaways with the X92.9 Street Team!
• FREE HOTDOGS and refreshments.
• To close out the day, we are super-stoked to present a free all-ages show by Calgary rock duo, HIGHKICKS (featuring Matt Doherty and Danny Vacon of the “DUDES”).

Except for the occasional “April Flurry”, Calgary’s weather is getting warmer...which means that another BMX season is right around the corner!

In this regard, please remember to obtain your 2013 Alberta Bicycle Association License and Calgary BMX Racing Membership, to ensure you’re ready to hit the track when we drop the first gate.

Our Season Opener Race is scheduled for May 16^th, with coaching beginning May 14^th...weather and track conditions permitting, of course.

THE BIG NEWS – Our Sport has Been Kept Secret Long Enough...Let’s Change That!

We want 2013 to be a HUGE breakout year for BMX Racing and we have big, BIG plans to put our sport on the radar of all Calgarians, but we really, REALLY need the help of our members to make this happen!

In support of BMX DAY in Alberta, an initiative presented by the Alberta Bicycle Association, we are planning the Largest Spring Awareness Campaign that our club has ever had. Many family fun activities are planned as we host many new visitors interested in learning about the sport of BMX Racing.

The event is scheduled for Sunday, May 26^th, 2013...10:00am to 3:00pm. Please make yourself available to help us host this amazing event. More details will be made available closer to the day, but rest assured...you do not want to miss this!

NOTE: The Calgary BMX Volunteer Commitment has been increased for 2013 to $200.00 per family (or 20 hours of volunteer service). This is a great opportunity to trim 5 hours off of that (early in the season too) by helping out at, what is sure to be, one of the most exciting events our club as ever seen!

Even More News...

• In late April we will be resurfacing and soil tacking the track.
• We are considering some other significant changes as well – such as a Training Circuit behind the 3rd corner and a Dirt Jump Track to re-purpose the fire pit area.
• Coaching will be on the same schedule as last year – Tuesdays for advanced riders and Wednesdays for novice – however, our new coaching teams have some very exciting stuff in store for this year’s program.
• Race nights are still Thursdays @ 7:15 SHARP. On-line registrations cut-off at 5:00, and in person at 6:30.

The 2013 BMX season is fast approaching, and along with it, another epic SUPERCAMP...and we are anticipating an amazing weekend!

Here is the GREAT NEWS – straight from Burlin himself – BUBBA WILL BE HERE!

For those who don't know, Bubba Harris is Burlin's son and is a AA pro who has numerous accolades to his credit...from 2004 though 2006 he was ABA #1 Pro.

SUPERCAMP will be held on June 28th – July 1st, 2013 at Calgary BMX Racing. This will be four full days of intense training by professional and champion coaches...and Bubba.

Take advantage of our EARLYBIRD SPECIAL of ONLY $275.00 per rider, but hurry you only have until May 15th, 2013 to get this special rate. After, the fee will be $300.00. Space is filling up fast, and in order to secure your spot, send a deposit now of $150.00 with final payment due by June 1st, 2013 (or the full amount can be paid upfront as well).

Additionally, for those who have Burlin's season pass, you are still required to contact us to ensure riders are registered for the camp at Calgary BMX Racing. What an amazing season we've had...but, sadly it's time to wash off the dirt...let's have some fun with that!

This year's party is sure to be a night to remember. Starting with achievement and special recognition awards (along with some special event gifts and door prizes), followed with an amazing dinner, and then...SWIMMING. So, please bring your appetites, swim trunks (NO Speedos...you know who I'm talking to) and be prepared to get RAD off the track.

If you plan to have extended family or other acquaintances to attend, please be prepared to pay additional for them.

For all members of Calgary BMX Racing, 2012 was a great year. We built a complete new track, paved our corners, facilitated world-class coaching programs and hosted one of the most memorable Provincial Grands and Alberta Championship events ever. Thank you to all volunteers, officers and executives who "Gave All That They've Got" to help make it such an amazing year.

With the changing landscape of BMX racing throughout Alberta, 2013 will be another pivotal year for our club, as many critical directions will need to be established to maintain the forward momentum of Calgary BMX Racing. All officer positions, as well as some very key executive chairs, need to be designated. It is extremely important that we have all the right people in place for the continued growth and success of our sport.
